  While Liverpool have presented an offer to extend Salah's contract at Anfield, suggests that discussions with Saudi representatives are still ongoing. A senior figure within the SPL has indicated that Salah “remains interested” in a move to the Middle East even though his immediate focus is on Liverpool’s proposal.

This fuelled expectations that Al-Hilal could secure Salah’s signature in time for the FIFA Club World Cup. However, despite these efforts, Salah is now unlikely to depart before the tournament, which takes place in the United States starting June 14. The SPL had viewed the competition as a key platform to showcase its growing influence, particularly after Neymar’s departure from Al-Hilal. Salah was seen as the perfect marquee signing to fill the Brazilian’s void and boost the league’s global appeal.
